It is important to ensure that your WiFi network remains secure at home. There are some simple and easy steps you can take to make your WiFi secure.

Open the router's settings page
Go to your web browser and type your Router access address (i.e"192.168.1.1") to open admin panel. From there, enter your appropriate username and password in the specified box and press Enter. You can find your username and password in your router's user manual. Some routers are also available manually on Google.

Create a Unique Password
Create a new, unique, and personalized password for your router that no one can guess. Do not keep a common or a default password for your WiFi router. Also, do not forget to change your password every few months.

Rename Network SSID
Changing your network SSID name will help as it will help others to know that it is not a default network, and it can be secure. Do not keep your family name, phone number, or home address as your SSID names.

Network encryption
This is an important task. There is a multitude of encryptions. Among the latest routers, WPA2 is the safest, and WEP is the least secure. Choose your encryption accordingly.

Filtering pc mac address
A MAC address is an inbuilt address in your device's networking device. This is the same as the IP address, except that it cannot be changed. For more security, you can add the MAC addresses of all your devices to your WiFi network. To do this, find the MAC addresses of your devices. In PC, use the command prompt and type "ipconfig / all". You will see your MAC address against the name 'Physical Address'. On your phone, you will find your MAC address under Networking Settings. Simply add these MAC addresses to the administrative settings of your WiFi router. Now only these devices will be able to access your WiFi.

Reducing your Wifi range
The easiest way to do this is to put the router in the shoebox under the bed or wrap the foil around its antennas. Similarly, you can change the mode of your WiFi router to 802.11g instead of any other mode.

Upgrade your wifi software
It is also important with new updates, you also get new security updates for your router. Go to your web browser and type your Router access address (i.e"192.168.1.1") and check your current firmware version and check it in the administration settings or dashboard.
